Bhima Koregaon Raids: Arrested activists to be kept under house arrest, rules SC

ONI Bureau:  The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed that the five human rights activists arrested in connection with the Bhima-Koregaon incident in Maharashtra will be kept under house arrest  till Sept 5. In this regard the Apex Court issued notice to Maharashtra Government.

The activists namely Varavara Rao, Vernon Gonsalves, Arun Ferreira and Gautam Navlakha and Sudha Bharadwaj had their alleged involvement in Elgaar Parishad function led to Bhima Koregaon violence in January this year, which resulted death of one and injured several others.

The raids were carried out to probe into the Bhima-Koregaon violence at Maharashtra’s Bhima-Koregaon village.
