Cyclone Alert issued for Odisha, Heavy Rains Likely

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday announced that Odisha is likely to experience heavy rains due to the Cyclonic Storm ‘ROANU’ during the next 24 hours due to the impact of a deep depression that formed over the Bay of Bengal.

A cyclone alert has been issued for Odisha. The depression moved at a speed of 45 to 50 kmph. It could take the shape of a cyclonic storm. Thundershower will occur in many places of south Odisha and north Odisha coast in next 24 hours.

While the storm warning signals were hoisted at Paradip and Gopalpur ports in Odisha, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
