Free Wi-Fi Service in Bhubaneswar from July 15, 2015

Bhubaneswar is all set to become the first fully Wi-Fi enabled city in India. The free Wi-Fi service will be launched from July 15, 2015. While the first 30 minutes will be completely free, the consumers will have to pay for extra usage.

Earlier, many cities and towns in the country had rolled out the Wi-Fi service at public places, but it was limited to only select places. This is the first time any city will be completely covered under the scheme. All that you need a Smartphone to avail that service.

Currently, 5 operators – Airtel, Bharti Infra, Reliance Jio, Orange Softech and Ortel Communications have given their consent to provide Wi-Fi service. These five companies will provide Wi-Fi at 10 different locations in the city. One user can avail the service only once in a day.

The service will be launched on July 15 on an experimental basis and later expanded to all areas. The areas selected for the pilot project, include Patia, Damana, KIIT Square, Jayadev Vihar, Vani Vihar, Sahid Nagar, Surya Nagar, OUAT, Airport, Khandagiri and ITER College.
