GKEL provides Relief to Fire Victims of Bansing Village

GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), which operates the 1050 MW thermal power plant at Kamalanga, extended its helping hand to the people of Banasing Village in Dhenkanal District, who were badly affected by a devastating fire on March 1, 2015. The fire engulfed 28 dwellings, rendering 25 families homeless.

“We were shocked to hear about the fire accident in Banasing Village and express our deep sympathy for the people who have lost their homes and belongings,” Mr. R Raveendranathan Nair, Director and Chief Operating Officer, GKEL, said. “We have arranged immediate relief for the affected families and pray that they are able to rebuild their houses at the earliest,” he added.

GKEL staff led by Mr. Dillip Kumar Kar, Program Leader, Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr. Susil  Kumar Rout, and Mr. Keshab Chandra Jena, Associate Manager, Corporate Communications, met members of the affected families of Banasing Village and distributed utensils including buckets, mugs, glasses, mats and biscuits to them in the presence of Mrs. Sipra Sethi, Block Development Officer and Mr. Hrudananda Biswal, Vice Chairman, Sadar Block, Mr. Sisir Satpathy, Samiti Member, Banasing Panchayat and other local leaders.
