Hi-Tech chief Tirupati Panigrahi deposits Rs 13.5 cr in Supreme Court

Hi-Tech Group Chairman Tirupati Panigrahi, who was arrested by Crime Branch on charges of land fraud in 2012, today deposited of Rs 13.5 crore out of Rs 63.5 crore.

On February 21, 2014, Supreme Court had granted conditional bail to Panigrahi and directed him to deposit Rs 63.5 crore to be refunded to duped land buyers. Earlier, Panigrahi had deposited Rs 20 crore, Rs 18 crore, Rs 9 crore and Rs 3.5 in four installments. Supreme Court ordered Tirupati Panigrahi to deposit Rs 13 crore to avoid his conditional bail rejection.

Hi-Tech Group had received money from around 17,000 people with promise of providing residential plots to them. From whom maximum people are yet to get the land.
