JB Patnaik’s Mortal Remains arrive in Bhubaneswar

Veteran Congress leader and former Odisha Chief Minister Janaki Ballabh Patnaik alias JB’s mortal remains were brought to Bhubaneswar on board a special flight from Tirupati. The flight landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport at 2:36 PM. Hundreds of his supporters had gathered outside the Airport to get a glimpse of their departed leader.

The convoy carrying JB Patnaik’s body came out of the Airport through Gate No. 5. He was given a ‘Guard of Honour’ by the police forces. Commissioner Dr. RK Sharma, DCP Satyabrata Bhoi and many other top cops and bureaucrats were present at the spot. Odisha Ministers Debiprasad Mishra and Bijayashree Routray were also present at the Airport.

Apart from Congress Seva Dal members and Youth Congress cadres, Senior Congress leaders of Odisha, Prasad Harichandan, Jayadev Jena, Suresh Routray, Taraprasad Bahinipati and many others were present to receive JB’s body. The mortal remains of JB Patnaik were taken to his Bhubaneswar residence in a convoy amidst chants of ‘Janaki Ballabh Amar Rahe, JB Amar Rahe’.

JB’s son Pruthvi Ballabh Patnaik and his son-in-law Soumya Ranjan Patnaik received his body at the airport. JB’s body will be put at his residence for public darshan. It will be taken to the Congress Bhavan and Vidahan Sabha at 11 AM tomorrow. It will be then taken to his native village Rameswar and arrive at Puri via Jagannath Sadak and Chandanpur. His last rites will be performed at Puri Swargdwar.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited JB Patnaik’s residence to pay his last respect to the departed soul. He hailed JB as a great leader and eminent litterateur. He also consoled Mrs. Jayanti Patnaik, widow of JB Patnaik and other family members.
