Locals set Train on Fire at Delang Railway Station

Angry and upset over the death of a local youth, who fell down from the train last night, the residents at Delang Railway Station went on a rampage, ransacked the offices and set a coach of Puri-Barbil Express on fire. No injuries or casualties have been reported.

The youth, who died last night following the mishap, was identified as Ratnakar Chhatoi of Guliapada village under Delang police station. He fell down from the Puri-Barbil Express at around 7:50 PM last night.

The locals did not allow the cops to take the dead body for post mortem and kept it on the railway track itself. They also staged a rail roko. Hundred of angry protesters gathered at the spot this morning. They sought halting of Puri-Barbil Express at Delang, saying the incident occurred, as the youth tried to get down when the train did not stop.

The security personnel rushed to the spot after the locals resorted to violence and arson. Prior to that, train services were disrupted for more than seven hours while vehicular traffic was blocked for more than four hours. Situation is tense, but under control in Delang.
