Nagarjuna Besha of Lord Jagannath Held in Puri

The famous ‘Nagarjuna Besha’ of Lord Jagannath was held amid the pandemic on Friday. However, the rituals started after a delay of almost three hours.

The rituals were set to begin around 4.45am, but was delayed over the engagement of more number of servitors. The rituals finally kicked-off at 7am.

The ceremony is being held sans devotees as the temple is shut due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The deities are dressed up as warriors to commemorate the slaying of Shahasrajuna by Parasurama.

The last Nagarjuna Besha was held in 1994.
