Odisha Govt announces Rs.795 Cr Scheme for Tribals

Bhubaneswar, May 15: In an endeavour to ensure livelihood to particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTGs) in Odisha, the state government has launched a special scheme – Odisha PVTG Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement Programme (OPELIP) on Friday.

Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik announced the special scheme while presiding a meeting of Tribes Advisory Committee (TAC) in Bhubaneswar. The state government has set an outlay of Rs. 795 crore for this special scheme for the welfare of tribal community in the state.

Patnaik said in the meeting that around 62,000 PVTG families would be benefited under from this newly launched scheme –OPELIP. He added that the scheme was aimed to empower trial community economically. The chief minister said that literacy rate of tribal community has been increased to 52 percent from 37 percent.
