Sushma Swaraj seeks report from Odisha Govt over Narges Ashtari case

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj sought report from the Odisha Government over Iranian woman facing criminal case.

Iranian-origin British charity worker Narges K Ashtari, who runs an orphanage through her NGO ‘Prishan Foundation’ in Rayagada district, has been charged with death of a tribal child due to negligence.

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif said to India that Iran will use all its capacity to secure her release.

Earlier this year, the SDJM Court sentenced 1 year jail term and Rs 3 lakh fine to Narges in connection with the drowning of the child Asim Jilakira in November 2014.
