Odisha Sprinter Dutee Chand breaks 16 yr National Record

Odisha Sprinter Dutee Chand won Gold medal in the women’s 100 meter event of 20th Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championship-2016 which, began at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday.

She broke a 16 year old record  and created a new national record. Dutee  also broke the record of Rachita Panda of Odisha who set it in 2000.

Dutee clocked 11.33 seconds to finish her race. She also broke the 100-metre qualifying time of 11:32 seconds for the ensuing Rio Olympics. While Olympics qualifying score stands at 11.32 seconds. So she missed out to qualify for Olympics.

Amiya Mallick could not repeat his performance in final due to injury and Srabani Nanda came second in the race with 11.45 seconds.
