Following the strike, there is shortage of goods in the markets across the country as around 87 lakh trucks have stopped plying. Price of goods across in Odisha has gone up following the strike called by the transporters over the toll system.
The talks between the center and the transporters body failed on Saturday. In last four days, truckers across the country suffered a loss of Rs.6,000 crore while loss of the government could be more than Rs. 40, 000 crore. The truckers body has been demanding the government to abolish the current toll system whereas the government has been insisting for e-tolling system pan-India by December. The transports have urged the Prime Minister for his intervention into the matter.
