Sanat Kumar Panda, a farmer by profession, has become a role model for millions of farmers and entrepreneurs in India, those aim to be successful. He believes in his concept for life “Live and Let Live”. And, exactly he did what that means to him. Not only he achieved personal success, but also worked for the empowerment of other farmers of the region.
Agriculture is a tough field; it is not everybody’s cup of tea, to achieve success and fame in this field. It is possible for the people like Sanat, those are dedicate and committed towards empowering others along with achieving personal growth.
For his contribution, Santa has been felicitated by various organizations including state government in past. He is one of the nominees for the prestigious OTV Odisha Citizens Award 2015 to be conferred by the leading channel of Odisha, OTV for his contribution in the field of agriculture.
It was difficult for him to select either of options – living urban life style or adopt village culture to remain to be a farmer. He selected the second option to stay back in his village and develop his career in the field of agriculture. Unlike other farmers in his village, Sanat is highly educated, despite opted to be a farmer and live a simple life in village. But his vision was too big that hard to imagine for other layman.
He was fully committed to achieve success as a farmer and empower other farmers those have been facing problems due to lack of knowledge. After entering into this profession, Sanat never looked back, he achieved milestones in agriculture one after another.
Sanat was born on 1st February 1968 to Natabar Panda and Indumati in Alladigam village of Ganjam district. His father Natabar Panda earned a lot of respect from the villagers for his honesty. He completed matriculation in 1983. He did his Masters in Economy in 1990 from Khallikote College, Berhampur and in Political Science from Berhampur University in 1993. He decided to complete Law Degree and achieved that as well in 1996 by passing LLB from Lingaraj Law College, Berhampur.
Achievements:
In 1996, Sanat started growing sugarcane in his area on 3 acres of land. His dedication in this field made him a renowned sugarcane farmer in Ganjam district. By 2010, his sugarcane farming expanded to 250 acres. Besides, his contribution came to fore, when he provided 7,850 tonnes of sugarcane to Aska Sugarcane Industry. Local farmers and industrialists lauded his dedication and performance in the field of sugarcane production.
On 8 September 2002, Sanat Kumar Panda was elected Panchayat President of Tapaswini Pani Panchayat. He was also elected as Secretary of Hiradharabati Pani Panchayat from 14 May 2013 to 1 December 2005.
In 2005, district administration recognized his skills in agriculture and production. On 19 November 2015, he was felicitated by the district administration for his contribution to agriculture production sector.
On 14 October 2007, Sanat Kumar Panda established Gopalana Kendra in his village.
On 17 February 2011, Odisha State Animal Husbandry department felicitated Sanat as best Dairy Farmer and lauded his contribution in the field of animal husbandry at State Level Agriculture Mahotsav.
On 22 November 2011, Sanat Kumar Panda was felicitated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during IDDP launching ceremony in Paralakemudi.
On 6 March 2012, Sanat represented Bhubaneswar at 8th Entrepreneurs Week-2012 over a lecture series on Capital Investment opportunities in Agriculture and Animal Resources.
On 15 February 2014, he participated as farmers’ representative at Progressive Agricultural Summit-2014 organized in Mohali, Punjab.
On 19 February 2015, Sanat as a successful Dairy Farmer, participated at the 43rd Dairy Industry Conference held in Kolkata, West Bengal.
