Will Naveen Patnaik revoke Pravat Tripathy’s Suspension?

Celebrations erupted in Banki and other parts of Cuttack district as well as in BJD camp after Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy was granted bail from the Orissa High Court in connection with AT Group chit fund scam. He had been in jail since October 31, 2015.

Pravat Tripathy had to furnish a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh. He has been asked to cooperate with the CBI in the investigation. Hours after he was granted the bail, the BJD leaders started debating whether party supremo Naveen Patnaik will revoke his suspension order or not.

Once considered as one of the most powerful and influential BJD leaders in Coastal region, Pravat Tripathy was suspended from the BJD for six years soon after his arrest. Although many of his supporters and loyalists want the Odisha CM consider the bail granted to Pravat and revoke his suspension, it is very unlikely that Naveen will take any decision in haste.

Naveen never believes in taking risks when it comes to political decision. Unless Pravat Tripathy gets a clean chit in the chit fund scam, he will prefer to maintain a distance from the Banki MLA to keep his clean image intact.
