“A taxi went out of the driver’s control at Mehad (Ramban) on the Jammu-Srinagar highway and plunged into the roaring Chenab river this morning,” a police official told in Jammu.
“A rescue operation was launched immediately. Six passengers have been rescued so far, but six are still missing,” he said. “Efforts to locate the missing passengers are on. It is feared that they may have been washed away by the current of the river,” the official added. Most of the passengers were labourers. (IANS)
