Veteran UP BJP Leader Ram Nath Kovind appointed Bihar Governor

President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed veteran BJP leader Ram Nath Kovind as the new governor of Bihar. West Bengal Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi was holding the additional charge of Bihar. Another BJP leader Acharya Dev Brat has been appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.

The 69-year-old Kovind was a two-time Rajya Sabha MP between 1994 and 2006. He hails hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. He also held the post of BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha Chief in the past. It is speculated that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was not consulted during the appointment of RN Kovind as the Governor.
