ONI Bureau: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday released a commemorative coin worth Rs 100 in honour of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The coin was released a day before Vajpayee’s 94th birth anniversary.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, BJP national President Amit Shah, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and MoS for Culture Mahesh Sharma were also present at the event to release the coin.
While speaking at the event Modi said, “The late prime minister never compromised on the ideology of the party and didn’t stop raising his voice for the people. The voice of Atalji was the voice of the nation”.
Worth mentioning, Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday, which falls on December 25, is celebrated as ‘Good Governance Day’ by the BJP.
