The blasts were triggered at the first class compartments of local trains between 6.24 and 6.35 PM, when lakhs of office-goers use Mumbai’s local trains to return home. All accused were part of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) group.
While 22 accused were arrested in connection with the blasts, 15 are still absconding. Key conspirators Faisal Shaikh and Asif Khan were among the convicts. Abdul Wahid Shaikh was acquitted.
