The political stalemate in J&K continues following the sudden demise of then CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on January 7. J&K has been without a government since then and Governor’s Rule is imposed in the state.
As Mehbooba has taken a tough stand over the alliance with the BJP is said to be inching closer to Congress, no decision has been taken on the continuance of PDP-BJP government in J&K. PDP has 27 (28-1) MLAs, while BJP has 25 MLAs. The Congress has 12 MLAs, while the National Conference has 15 MLAs in the 87-member Assembly.
