J&K Governor summons Mehbooba Mufti over Govt Formation

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra has asked PDP President Mehbooba Mufti to meet him tomorrow to end the confusion over government formation in the state. Vohra has also asked the BJP leaders in the state to meet him tomorrow.

The political stalemate in J&K continues following the sudden demise of then CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on January 7. J&K has been without a government since then and Governor’s Rule is imposed in the state.

As Mehbooba has taken a tough stand over the alliance with the BJP is said to be inching closer to Congress, no decision has been taken on the continuance of PDP-BJP government in J&K. PDP has 27 (28-1) MLAs, while BJP has 25 MLAs. The Congress has 12 MLAs, while the National Conference has 15 MLAs in the 87-member Assembly.
