Kisan Kranti Yatra: Rajnath meets Farmers, agrees to most demands

ONI Bureau:  Home Minister Rajnath Singh met with agitating farmers and agreed on the majority of the issues, Union minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said on Tuesday.

It is to be noted that Police used tear gas and water cannons as at least 30,000 of Bhartiya Kisan Union members who have walked from Uttar Pradesh tried to break the barriers as they stopped at the heavily-barricaded Delhi-UP border. Earlier, Section 144 imposed in East Delhi to avoid any untoward incident.

The protesting farmers launched the Kisan Kranti Padyatra to press for their demands including farm loan-waiver, friendly crop insurance and support for small and marginal farmers and implement recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.
