‘Modicare’ in Budget 2018; Big Boost for Health Sector

ONI Bureau: You may call it ‘Modicare’ like Obamacare in the United States. PM Narendra Modi ensured massive reforms in healthcare sector by announcing a scheme that would provide benefits to 50 crore people in India.

The new National Health Protection Scheme known as Ayushman Bharat, under which 10 crore families will get Rs 5 lakh per year for their families to cover secondary and tertiary hospital expenses, is said to be the world’s largest government funded healthcare scheme.

The Government has allocated Rs 1200 crore for this scheme. In addition, Rs 600 crore corpus fund will be set up to help TB (Tuberculosis) patients.
