Odisha Food Commission finds Mid-Day Meal ‘unsafe’, seeks action

ONI Bureau:  The Food Safety Commission slammed the State Government  for the quality of midday meals fed to school children, calling it unsafe for consumption.

Based on surprise checks and sample tests from eight nodal schools including Malkangiri, Koraput, Sundargarh, Khurda Balasore and Jajpur in 2017 and from Balangir district in 2016, the commission has urged the Odisha Government to take immediate action in the matter.

As per the food analyst’s report, the samples do not meet the required nutritional standards under the Food Safety and Standards, 2006.
