PKDA directs ISKCON to stop Temple Construction Work

Bhubaneswar, Jan 20:  The Puri-Konark Development Authority (PKDA) has served a show cause notice to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)over its proposed temple in Puri. The PKDA has also directed the office bearers of ISKCON to appear before it on January 29.

As per reports, the development authority has asked the organization to stop the construction work of the proposed temple till the matter is resolved. And, it handed over all the documents related to the case to the Urban Development Department. Notably, the international organization had clarified about the proposed temple would be of Radha Krishan temple in Puri not Jagannath temple, on Tuesday.

Taking serious note over the temple construction row, BJD leader and Minister for Urban Development, Pushpendra Singhdeo directed the collector of Puri, who is also vice chairman of PKDA, to examine under what circumstances approval was given to ISKCON to construct a temple. Meanwhile, the collector of Puri told media that ISKCON in its building plan has mentioned that the land would be developed as institutional area.
