Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had discussion with Union Railway Minister last year on April 16. He said that railway infrastructure in Odisha remained inadequate with seven tribal districts dominated by Naxals not having railway line.
He further said two railway line projects, Jeypore-Nabarangpur and Jeypore-Malkangiri, which will cover Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts, should be provided adequate funds in 2015-16 Budget. But Jaipur-Malkangiri and Jaipur-Nabarangpur railway route got only Rs 1 lakh per head.
The State Government has sent a letter to Centre in 2014, proposing to bear 50 per cent construction cost along with free land for Jeypore-Nabarangpur line and 25 per cent construction cost for Jeypore-Malkangiri line.
