Temporary Employees of Puri Temple call off Stir

Temporary employees of Puri Jagannath Temple, who were on an indefinite strike demanding permanent status for their job and hike in pay structure, have called off their strike following an assurance from the temple administration.

In total, 243 temporary employees of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) were holding the agitation. Although there is no clear work on regularization of their jobs, they were promised a pay hike soon. The agitation was organised under the banner of Shree Mandir Karmachari Sangh (SMKS).

The agitating employees were the Class III and Class IV temporary employees of SJTA. They were demanding a minimum pay of Rs 15,000 for Class III and Rs 13,000 for Class IV employees.
