Cape Town Test: South Africa 286; India 28/3

ONI Bureau: Team India started their New Year 2018 on a positive note, as they restricted South Africa to 286 in the first innings on Day 1 of the Cape Town Test. But, they later conceded the advantage by slumping to 28/3 at Stumps.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. From 12/3 at one stage, they recovered well to score 286. AB de Villiers 65, Faf du Plessis 62, Quinton de Kock 43, Keshav Maharaj 35 were the top scorers.

For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 4 wickets, while R Ashwin took 2 wickets. In reply, India lost Murali Vijay (1), Shikhar Dhawan (16) and Virat Kohli (5) with just 27 runs on board. They finished at 28/3 at Stumps. Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma are on the crease.
