South Africa “spinned” out for 79 in Nagpur Test

In reply to India’s first innings score of 215, South Africa bundled out for a paltry 79 – their lowest total against India in Test cricket. This is also the lowest total by any team against India. The Indian spinners ruled the roost on a low and turning wicket, which has come under severe criticism from many quarters.

South Africa were 12/5 at one stage and looked like they would be bowled out for less than 50. However, JP Duminy played some audacious shots in his 35 off 65 balls to help his team surpass 70. Simon Harmer scored 13.

For India, Ashwin took five wickets – his 14th five-wicket haul in Tests. Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets. Amit Mishra took one. India now have a lead of 136 runs.
