Indian Men’s Hockey Team slumps to 6th Spot in FIH Rankings

The Indian Hockey Team slipped one place to finish 6th in the latest FIH rankings following their loss in the quarterfinals of Rio Olympics 2016 where they won 2 matches, lost three and drew one. India finished 8th at Rio.

India had gone to Olympics as 5th in the rankings, but the lackluster performance in Rio dented their prospects. Australia continued to be on the top, followed by Argentina (2nd), Netherlands (3rd), Germany (4th) and Belgium (5th). Great Britain are placed at 7th.

On the other hand, the Women’s Hockey team surprisingly moved one place to occupy 12th spot in the rankings despite disastrous performance at Rio.
