Odisha gets 8 Awards for successful implementation of Central Rural Schemes

ONI Bureau:  Odisha bagged as many as eight National awards for outstanding implementation of centrally sponsored rural development schemes such as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission, PMGSY and MGNREGA.

Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday presented three awards to Odisha for its best performance in implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana and National Rural Livelihood Mission.

Likewise, the state also received awards for showing the best results under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and adopting green technology in construction project.

The Union Minister also awarded Odisha for successful implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Similarly, Hatiota Gram Panchayat of Ganjam district was awarded the best panchayat for successfully implementing the MGNREGA whereas Rayagada collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar received  National Award for effective implementation of MGNREGS for the year 2016-17.

Worth mentioning, 228 awards presented under different categories to the States, Districts, Blocks, Organisations, and Individuals for implementation of various Programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development in outstanding manner in 2017-18.
