BJP Sweeps Ladakh Development Council, wins 18 of 26 Seats

Despite a series of attacks on the party and its leaders from various sections across the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has swept the Ladakh Autonomus Hill Development Council (LAHDC) polls.

The BJP has won 18 out of 26 seats to claim two-third majority. The party had contested in 24 seats. The Congress Party could win just 5 seats, followed by National Conference (2). Independent candidate has bagged one seat.

Although BJP had won the Lok Sabha seat in Ladakh in 2014, the party lost all four assembly seats that went to polls later. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many top leaders have hailed the victory.
