Sanjeev Marik takes political plunge, joins Jharkhand Mukti Morcha

Sanjeev-MarikFormer Odisha DGP, who was accused of harbouring criminals from Jharkhand and Bihar a few years ago, has finally taken the political plunge by joining the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the presence of supremo Shibu Soren (Guruji). Marik may contest from Godda ass Bly segment in the upcoming bypolls.

Marik had retired from service on December 31, 2015 after 34 years in service. Marik, a 1981 batch IPS officer, had headed Bhubneswar, Berhampur and Sambalpur during his initial stints. He was later appointed as DGP of Odisha, when the Naveen Patnaik government targeted former DGP Prakash Mishra soon after 2014 polls.

Not long ago, he was suspended for having alleged nexus with criminals from Bihar and Jharkhand, but later stated a comeback and won goodwill of CM Naveen Pwynaik and his bureaucratic coterie.

A couple of months ago, former Odisha IGP Anadi Sahu had brought serious allegations against Marik, saying he had links with Dhalasamanta Brothers.
