ONI Bureau: After a dream run in 2017 in all formats, Team India were off to a bad start in the New Year 2018, as they suffered a 72-run loss to South Africa in Cape Town Test.
Chasing a victory target of 208, India found it tough to handle the pressure on a slow wicket and bowled out for 135 in the second innings. Ashwin (37) and Kohli (28) tried to show some resistance though. For Proteas, Vernon Philander took 6 wickets. He had taken 3 wickets in the first innings too. He was the obvious choice to be declared ‘Player of the Match’.
Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada also took two wickets each.
Scores:
South Africa 286 & 130
India 209 & 135
