Facebook Debate Verdict: Demonetisation draws Flak from Netizens
ONI Bureau: On the second anniversary of Demonetisation, most netizens have slammed the move, calling it as a total failure and a gimmick by the ruling BJP to finish the opponents and make itself cash-rich. Here are your views:
Sambit Nanda: Primarily we have thought it would have only meant to target Terrorists, Naxalites and stone pelters funding, but everything was an eyewash. It was clearly visible that the vow to end corruption through demonetization as a hoax only. But it seems now that demonetization was executed for equaling or surpassing Congress party fund amount only. The BJP is a fund rich party now.
Nirmal Panda: It’s a failed initiative. The top 4 objectives behind demonetization were 1) Elimination of fake currency, 2) Purging black money, 3) Destruction of terror funding, 4) Cashless economy. Needless to say, it’s a tragedy as it looks like now.
Manas Ranjan Pradhan: Demonetisation was an organised loot and legalised plunder, as mentioned by former PM and India’s great Economist Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Suresh Tarasia: It was a pre-planned scam, failed to yield any positive results.

Dinesh Das: Demonetisation has no impact. Neither it could bring back the black money nor it benefited our economy. Huge amount spent for replacing the notes. No politician or bureaucrat was seen exchanges their notes rather common men suffered a lot out of it. The then Governor of RBI also kept away of the information that demonetisation was going to happen in the evening. In my opinio,n it was a grand failure. We should observe it as the black day for Indian economy.
