AAP Govt presents Rs 41,129 crore Budget for 2015-16

AAP-BudgetThe Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi led by Arvind Kejriwal presented a Rs 41,129 crore Budget for 2015-16. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia presented the budget calling it Swaraj Budget.

The AAP Government claimed that the budget was prepared as per the consultation with the common people in Delhi. They also slammed the centre for not providing enough funds even they got a lot of money from Delhi towards taxes.

Here are the Key Highlights:

  • Rs 253 crore for Swaraj Nidhi – funds for residents to implement schemes and projects within their colonies.
  • One Lakh New Jobs to be created.
  • Free Wi-Fi in Colleges @ Rs 50 crore.
  • Health allocation increased by 45% and Education allocation up by 106%.
  • No increase in VAT.
  • 250 Unauthorised Colonies to get Pipe Water.
  • 32% hike in the allocation for development of unauthorised colonies.
  • 20,000 new teachers, 3 ITI and 5 Polytechnics.
  • Clean Yamuna in 5 Years.
  • Special Focus on Women Security in Public Places.
  • Rs 3,695 crore funds for Transportation.
  • 110 New Ambulances in one year.
  • 1000 new neighborhood clinics in Delhi. Of these 500 will be by 2016. Rs 125 crore allocated.
  • Contractors will be paid for work only after people express satisfaction over work.
  • Pilot project in 11 constituencies with each constituency getting Rs 20 crore.
  • Every district to get a Delhi District Urban Development Agency for micro-management of issues.
  • E- governance and m-governance to be promoted.
  • Out of a total 1,011 schools 50 schools to be developed as model schools.
  • CCTV cameras will be installed in all classrooms in government schools.
  • Planning a ‘skill university’ to make Delhi into a knowledge and skill hub.
  • By the end of 2016, 1,380 low-floor buses, 500 mini buses and 1,000 cluster buses will be introduced in Delhi. 1,200 new bus shelters to come up in the city.
  • CCTVs in all cluster and DTC buses will be installed. Hostels for working women to be set up.
  • Rs 927 crore located for social welfare schemes. Families of police, home guard, civil defense personnel who die in line of duty will be given Rs 1 crore each by the government.
