Assam MLA’s Ex-husband held in Luxurious Car theft Racket

Assam police arrested the Congress MLA Rumi Nath’s ex-husband Jacky Jakir from his native place in connection to a racket in car theft racket. He was later taken to Guwahati by the police team. PSO of MLA, Bedabrata Borpatragohain, has also been detained in this regard.

Jakir was arrested on a revelation made by Anil Chauhan, who was nabbed by Assam Police in Azara last Friday. Chauhan is allegedly involved in lifting at least 4,552 vehicles from different locations across the country.

It is alleged that Chauhan had sold a stolen a BMW car to Rumi Nath, an MLA from Borkhola, who reportedly gifted the luxurious car to Jakir on his birthday last year.

However, Rumi denied the allegation, saying the car was taken to her just for a test drive.

Earlier, during a raid in Chaauhan’s house, police had found some ‘car passes’ to the State assembly campus issued in Chauhan’s name recommended by Rumi . Speaker Pranab Gogoi also sought an explanation from the MLA in this regard.
