Convicted Goa Minister Mickky Pacheco resigns from Cabinet

Mickky PachecoGoa Rural Development Minister Francisco alias Mickky Pacheco on Friday submitted his resignation to Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar. Goa Vikas Party General Secretary Lyndon Monteiro confirmed about Mickky Pacheco’s resignation from cabinet.

Meanwhile, Mr Parsekar has accepted the resignation and sent it to Governor.

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed special leave petition filed by Mickky Pacheco against the Bombay High Court, Goa Bench in connection a case of slapping a junior engineer in the state’s Electrical Department in 2006. The tainted leader is now facing six months of jail term.

Pacheco, an MLA from Nuvem constituency form South Goa, is the Chief of the Goa Vikas Party, which is a coalition partner of ruling BJP in the state government.

Pacheco was sworn in as Minister in a cabinet expansion in November last year.
