Goa Congress throws ‘Five Questions’ Challenge to BJP

Goa Congress - Five Questions to BJPTaking a cue from the “five questions” strategy adopted by the BJP to corner the AAP ahead of the Feb 7 Delhi polls, the Congress Panaji Saturday adopted this to question Goa’s BJP-led coalition government. Congress spokesperson Yatish Naik announced his party’s list of five questions for the state government, which ranged from the government’s inability to avail of central funds for mega infrastructure projects, failure to deliver on several promises made in the BJP’s 2012 assembly poll manifesto.

“The government promised much but has delivered nothing. They have failed on most promises,” Naik said at a press conference. When asked if the Congress would be posing five questions to the BJP government in Goa everyday, just like the BJP was trying to ramp up pressure on the Aam Aadmi Party, Naik said: “Wait and watch.”

Political climate in Goa is heating up in view of the Feb 13 bye-poll for the Panaji assembly seat, which was vacated after the elevation of sitting MLA and former chief minister Manohar Parrikar to as defence minister. Sidharth Kuncolienkar of the BJP is taking on Panaji mayor Surendra Furtado, while two other Independent candidates are also in the fray. (IANS)
