Jitan Ram Manjhi seeks Dissolution of Bihar Assembly

Jitan-Ram-ManjhiAs expected, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has recommended the dissolution of Bihar Assembly against the wishes of majority of his Cabinet colleagues. At the Cabinet meeting, he sought to thawrt any move to remove him from the post and bring back Nitish Kumar as the CM.

The pro-Nitish Kumar Ministers walked out of the meeting and decided to approach Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi against any move to dissolve the assembly. At least two-third of Ministers revolted against the CM.

Earlier, Jitan Ram Manjhi met Nitish Kumar, Sharad Yadav and many other senior JD(U) leaders. But, what transpired in the meeting, remained a secret. Soon after the meeting, Jitan Ram Manjhi held the Cabinet meeting to seek a mandate on his decision to dissolve the assembly and seek fresh polls.

It is believed that the JD(U) MLAs, who are with Nitish Kumar, will elect him as the Leader of the party’s Legislative Party and then approach the Governor to anoint him as the new Chief Minister. The BJP may not try to fish in the troubled waters if Manjhi does not show enough MLAs with him.
