Supreme Court suspends ban on ‘Padmaavat’ by 4 States

ONI Bureau: The Supreme Court has paved the way for most controversial, yet much hyped movie Padmaavat’s all-India release by suspending the ban imposed on the film by 4 states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana.

The apex court termed the ban wrong and asked the states to make necessary arrangements to maintain calm and peace. “Free speech can’t be curbed”, the court observed.

‘Ban on Padmaavat violates freedom of expression. It should be allowed to be screened without any exception. And, States must protect the people going to watch the film,” Supreme Court said.
