Indian Red Cross organizes Family Counseling Meeting

A day long Neighbourhood Meeting of Family Counseling Centre was organized by Indian Red Cross Society Odisha State Branch at Kargil Basti one of the most crowed slum of Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar The programme was held by involving local residents including adolescent girls, women, leaders, and volunteers. The main object of the neighbourhood meeting was to promote family counseling.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr Ananta Nayarayan Jena, Mayor, Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation as the Chief Guest, Dr. Chakradhar Panda ,Honorary Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society Odisha State Branch as the Guest of Honor and Mrs. Bijaya Mishra ,Member of Sub –Committee in Family Counselling Centre ,and Smt. Rasmi Mohapatra, Member of State Social Welfare Board and Mr. Gouranga Nayak, Life Member of Indian Red Cross Society Odisha State Branch ,Mr. Ananda Sahoo, Secretary of Kargil Slum . By addressing the participants Dr. Panda said that a Women bear almost all the responsibilities for meeting all the needs of the family yet often they are denied the resources, information and freedom they need to fulfill this responsibilities .He informed to the participants to take the benefits of Family Counselling and other community Welfare programmes of Red Cross.

Mr. A.N.Jena briefly explain the Indian Red Cross Society’s role and the objective of Family Counselling Centre. During her Address Mrs. Bijaya Mishra said about Indian Red Cross Society ,Odisha State Branch’s role in Odisha especially humanitarian activities. .

The programme was coordinate by the counselors Miss. Bijayalaxmi Kar and Miss Pritiprangya Dash. They discussed on various issues related to Family Counseling including Dowry Victims, extra marital affairs, economic Crises, mental illness and interference of in-laws etc. The programmer was ended with a vote of thanks by Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Honorary Joint Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society Odisha State Branch.
