Justice Dipak Misra addresses KIMS Convocation in Bhubaneswar

KIMS Convocation in BhubaneswarBhubaneswar, Dec 23: First Convocation of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), medical education wing of KIIT University, was held in KIIT campus on December 22, 2015.

Hon’ble Shri Justice Dipak Misra, Judge, Supreme Court of India delivered the convocation address.

Addressing the students, Justice Misra said, education should be utilized in the right manner so that peace can prevail all over the world. Students should receive best of education, whichever branch they like.

Irrespective of their branch of study, information technology, technical or professional education, they should utilize their education for the development of the society, he stated.

There is wide scope for each and every student and they should take the opportunity at its best, he advised. Medical students should always stick to the professional ethics and be polite and humble to the patients, Justice Misra told the graduates.

International legal luminaries, who were here to attend a seminar on international law organized by KIIT University, also graced the convocation ceremony. “There is no better gift to the society than education to children”, said Hon’ble Dr. Justice Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, Vice-President at the International Court of Justice, The Hague.

“I have been profoundly inspired by achievements of KIIT & KISS Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta. Most of the people of Somalia are still underprivileged due to lack of education. As a Somali, we want a person like Dr. Samanta”, stated Dr, Yusuf, a prominent jurist from Somalia.

Hon’ble Dr. Justice Dalveer Bhandari, Judge at the International Court of Justice; Prof. Jan Paulsson, Michael Klein Distinguished Scholar Chair at the University of Miami School of Law and Centennial Professor of Law, Landon School of Economics; Prof. Marike Paulsson, Director, International Arbitration Institute & Lecturer in Law, University of Miami; Ms. Pinky Anand, Addl. Solicitor General of India; Dr. Sunitha Krishnan, Social Activist & Chief Functionary and Co-Founder, Prajwala also spoke on the occasion.

Expressing his happiness, Dr. Achyuta Samanta said, KIMS is very proud to have Justice Dipak Misra in its first convocation and it is a matter of pride for the whole State that eminent judges from the International Court of Justice have come to Odisha. It is the second visit of Justice Bhandari to KIIT & KISS.
