KIMS-Bhubaneswar observes World Diabetes Day

KIMS-Bhubaneswar observes World Diabetes DayBhubaneswar, Nov 16: World Diabetes Day was observed in Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital (PBMH).

On this occasion an awareness walkathon was organized in which students, faculty members and employees of KIMS participated. The rally was commenced from Magnet Squre Bhubaneswar to KIMS campus.

Participating as the chief guest in the event VC of KIIT University Prof. P .P.Mathur told that Yoga, Morning Walk and Food habits could control the disease in a big way. Therefore all should take these precautionary measures and healthy habits.

Director of KIMs Dr. B.C. Das who was also the guest of honour on the occasion said depending on the type and severity, diabetes is controlled by dietary measures, weight loss, oral medication or injected or inhaled insulin. Therefore early medical check-up and precautions could cure the disease.

The occasion aimed to raise awareness of diabetes, its prevention and complications and the care that people needed. KIMS have been observing the day to aware about this disease among people . Among general public Dr. R. N. Samanta, CEO, KIMS and Mr. P. Parida, Doctors and students graced the occasion.
