Vedanta celebrates World Breastfeeding Day at Basantapada

Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh in association with Vedanta Foundation celebrates World Breastfeeding Week with Community Women at Basantapada Village to create awareness on the benefits of breast feeding for the holistic development of a child and well –being of the lactating mothers.

The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Mamta Dave, President- Vedanta Ladies Club in the presence of other dignitaries like Mrs. Jalaj Malpani , Mrs. Anil Gupta & Mrs Jyotsna Mishra, ICDS Supervisor of Lanjigarh. Similarly Other guests attended on the on the occasion are Mrs. B.S Mund, Mrs. Aarti Mishra, Mrs. Binita Sharma, Mrs. Latha, Dr. Akshaya Sahu , CMO Vedanta and Dr. M M Purohit of NKBT.

On the occasion K.K. Dave, COO said “Breastfeeding  is essential for healthy growth of the child which provides all essential vitamin for the mental and physical growth of the child and is best immunization mechanism. This will create a goodwill among the community.”

Mrs. Mamata Dave- President Vedanta Ladies Club stated, “Every mother should feed her child with Milk as this is a God’s Gift which has maintained a good relationship caste, religion.” The programme was attended by members of, mother’s committee, SHG women and other pregnant, lactating mothers and ASHA worker. A pamphlet on do’s and don’ts regarding breastfeeding was distributed to all the women and others who were present in the event. The programme will continue during the month of August as Vedanta Foundation will spread awareness on benefits of Breastfeeding through Mother’s Committee meeting in 34 villages, various activities will be organized as a mark of celebrations at Childcare Centres.
