Veteran Congress Leader Balram Jakhar dies at 92

Veteran Congress leader, former Union Minister, Ex Lok Sabha Speaker and former Governor Balram Jakhar passed away at the age of 92 following a brief illness. He will be cremated in Punjab tomorrow.

The cremation will be held at his native village, Panchkosi in Abohar at 11 AM tomorrow. Jakhar had suffered a brain stroke a year ago. He never recovered from that. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled Jakhar’s death. “Balram Jakhar ji was a popular leader who enriched our Parliamentary democracy in his long political journey. Saddened by his demise. RIP.” he tweeted.
