Aircel-Maxis Case: ED moves SC against Maran Brothers’ discharge

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday moved the Supreme Court against a special court’s decision to discharge the Maran brothers in the Aircel-Maxis case without furnishing the bail bond properly.

The court on Thursday given a clean chit to former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran, his industrialist brother Kalanithi Maran and others as it did not find them guilty of the charges made out in the chargesheet.

Notably, the CBI had alleged that Maran brothers received a bribe of Rs 742 crore for pressurizing C Sivasankaran to sell his telecom company Aircel to Malaysia-based Maxis.
