Congress and TMC to boycott Lok Sabha for 5 Days

Soon after Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan suspended 25 Congress MPs for 5 days, Congress President Sonia Gandhi termed it as a ‘Black Day for Democracy’ and a biased decision. Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge has announced the party’s decision to boycott the Lok Sabha and appealed other opposition parties to back the Congress on this issue. He alleged that the government is trying to suppress and oppress the Opposition.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) has backed the Congress Party on this issue and decided to boycott the Lok Sabha for 5 days. The Left Front, Aam Aadmi Party and AIMIM may too boycott the Lok Sabha, it is learnt.

The Parliament has not functioned for the last 10 days, due to strong protests from Congress and other Opposition MPs, who have demanded the resignation of Sushma Swaraj, Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
