Many Left-Congress leaning Historians, Writers, Journalists, Activists and Academicians are participating at the event and bashing BJP, RSS and Modi. They condemn the “violence” and “atrocities” on Dalits and Muslims and believe India no longer remains a happy and peaceful place to live in. They also hail Nehru as the guardian of secularism and democracy in India.

The participants include, Romila Thapar, Kumar Ketkar, Mukul Kesavan, Irfan Habib, Vrinda Grover, Kancha Ilaiah, Aakar Patel, Kavita Shrivastava, Teesta Setalvad, Gopal Guru etc.

The Congress strategy is to host all Marxist Historians, Academicians and other Left liberals under a Nehruvian umbrella. Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh inaugurated the conference, while Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will give the valedictory address tomorrow.
