15th National ISP PG Convention in KIIT

KIITThe 15th convention of National Indian Society of Periodontology (ISP) ‘Peri ‘O’disha’ jointly organized by ISP and KIIT University was concluded on 13th March. As many as fifteen hundred delegates including peridontologists, researchers and Post Graduate Students participated in the two day convention.

During this two day convention various aspects and challenges in peridontology were discussed. Addressing the inaugural session Dr. Namita Mohapatra, Director, ICMR, Bhubaneswar stressed on community awareness on dental and oral diseases and care. She said, for research in peridontology is most important.

There should be well equipped library and laboratory in every dental college for research. ICMR is providing short term technical training programmes for researchers. Prof. P. P. Mathur, VC, KIIT University said it is most important to create awareness among the community. Dr. A. R. Pradeep, President Elect, ISP informed about National Indian Society of Periodontology.

He said, ISP as one of the most represented dental specialty organizations in India has more than 1600 members representing diverse areas and designations across the country. Post graduate curriculum focused enough to impart skills so that the young periodontists can include peridontology in their clinical practice.

Among others Dr. Pravin Kudva, President ISP; Dr. Anirban Chatterjee and Dr. P. L. Ravishankar, Vice Presidents ISP; Dr. Balaji Manohar, Secretary; Dr. Rinkee Mohanty, Organizing Chairperson; Dr. Subhas Chandra Raj, Organizing Secretary and Dr. Ramesh Chandra Dash, Principal Kalinga Insitute of Dental Sciences were also present on the occasion.
