180 High Schools in Odisha to impart Vocational EducationVocational Education will be implemented in 180 high schools throughout the state in phased manner. In this regard, Sri Debi Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble Minister, Education wrote letter to Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani Union Minister of HRD on 15th July, 2015 for extension of trades. He highlighted that trades like Automobile I IT& ITeS will be implemented in 30 selected and approved schools, one at each district head quarter during 2015-16 in 1st phase.

Subsequently, State has decided to expand the scheme to another 150 schools of 30 districts in next year Annual Work Plan & Budget, 2016-17 under RMSA wherein State has decided to introduce trade such as Horticulture, Tourism , Plumbing, Nursing I Patient Care Assistant which is based on State specific requirement. Sri Mishra requested Smt. Irani for the necessary approval of the HRD Ministry. By 2016-17, after introducing in the 180 High Schools in the 1st phase, balance 134 schools in 134 blocks will be implemented in the year 2017-18 in the 2nd phase so that all the 314 blocks will be covered.
